Patient's FAQs

The best starting point is a free consultation with one of our experienced clinicians. This is an obligation free visit in which we perform a thorough intra oral examination and discuss which option is best for you. This appointment also allows us to explain what we do that sets us apart from your traditional denture clinics, the different denture options we have and allow you to ask as many questions as you need.

We offer a variety of different options which will be discussed in your consultation. Whether you are after full dentures, various partial denture options or immediate dentures, we can help.

We understand that many people struggle with traditional impressions due to their gag reflex. In some cases we are able to use our intra oral scanner, however this is something that would need to be assessed in your consultation. It is worth noting that our clinicians have various techniques and skills that allow the patient to tolerate the types of impressions we do.

There are different options available regarding partial dentures which we will discuss with you in your consultation appointment. If we feel that your remaining teeth require attention then we can refer you back to a dentist to complete any necessary treatment before returning to us. Immediate dentures are also an option. It is common for your dentures to need time to adjust and settle in your mouth. Digital Dentures have a more precise fit which can make them fit more accurately in areas of your mouth that your previous denture doesn’t. Remember your old denture is your comfy pair of slippers and we are replacing them with a new dress shoe. At times a pressure spot will go away but sometimes your denture will need adjusting. If there is a sharp, stabbing pain you will need to book an appointment to have the denture adjusted. If you’re feeling some discomfort and pressure, try removing the denture for an hour. Take note of the time and place the denture back in. Repeat if needed. If the time increases, then the denture is still settling in, and no adjustments are needed.
Sore spots occur from sharp bone, thin gum, roughness of the denture base and exposed nerves. Your Dental prosthetist will be able to diagnose how to make your denture comfortable.

We pride ourselves on the service and product we offer. Part of this service is that we will continue to see you for as many adjustments as you need at no cost. It is completely normal and often expected to have sore spots with your new dentures which is why we encourage you to let us know if you are needing further adjustments and we will arrange for you to see your clinician as soon as possible. Please note, whilst certain walk in visits can be accommodated, you do need to book in an appointment to have your dentures adjusted.

If you have broken your denture the most important thing is that you don’t try and fix it yourself (no super glue!). This can make it very difficult to repair and subsequently results in added costs and appointments for you. Quite simply, if you break your denture, collect all pieces in a bag and just call us straight away. We will be able to assess over the phone when we can have your denture repaired and in the majority of cases, you will have your repaired denture back by the end of the day.

Yes! We currently are able to take on TAC, Gold Card DVA and work cover patients. As with all patients, you will need to book in for an initial free consult to start. This can be done over the phone or online by clicking this link https://strath-hill-denture-clinic.au1.cliniko.com/bookings#service

Unfortunately at this stage we do not have the capacity to take on VDS Denture patients. However we would be more than happy to see you for a free consultation and offer you our options. Book your free consult online by clicking here https://strath-hill-denture-clinic.au1.cliniko.com/bookings#service

The cost of a denture can vary widely depending on which denture is suitable for you. The best way to determine your fee is by attending one of our free consultations in which we can provide a full itemised quote for you.

We also offer payment plans including:

After pay- https://www.afterpay.com/en-AU/how-it-works  and

Humm- https://www.nationaldentalplan.com.au/patient/#how-it-works

Onsite we have a Hicaps machine, which accepts all major health funds for instant rebates.

*Most healthcare providers allow quotations through the terminal, so you are aware of your gap payment.

The rebate you will receive from your private health insurance varies greatly from case to case so this is information we are unable to provide you over the phone or without an accurate quote from our clinicians. However, we do have a HICAPS machine on site which allows for us to claim on the spot and also quote what your rebate will be should you go ahead with treatment.

There are some cases in which we can fast track your denture process however this needs to be discussed in your consultation appointment and sometimes incurs a small ‘fast tracking’ fee. If you would like more information on the appointment process, please see the ‘what to expect’ tab for a detailed timeline and description.
