Our custom mouth guards are dual laminate, meaning they’re made from two layers of different materials. The inner layer consists of a 2mm clear laminated blank, while the outer layer is made from a 4mm coloured blank pressure formed to the inner layer. This combination of materials makes our mouth guards tough, durable and comfortable to wear.
We’ve selected our materials to strike the perfect balance between protection and comfort. The pressure-formed outer layer ensures a snug fit, while the soft inner layer helps ensure your mouth guard is comfortable to wear for extended periods. These materials do not warp when subjected to heat; your mouth guard will retain its shape and fit even after repeated use.
Custom mouth guards are made from high-quality materials that fit your teeth precisely. This offers better protection, comfort, and durability than over-the-counter mouth guards. Over-the-counter mouthguards, otherwise known as ‘Boil and Bite’ guards, are made from a softer material that you must boil in water to fit. While they may seem like a cheaper option, they can often lose their shape quickly and need to be replaced more frequently.
You should clean your custom mouth guard with cool, soapy water and a toothbrush after every use. Never put your mouth guard in the dishwasher or leave it in direct sunlight, as this can damage it.
With proper care, custom mouth guards can last several years. If you find that your mouth guard is starting to wear down or become uncomfortable, you should reach out to your dentist to see if you need a new one.
You may need more than one custom mouth guard if you play multiple sports, depending on the type of sport and the level of protection you need. For example, if you play both football and basketball, you may need a separate mouth guard for each sport.
